Meet the Founder
Allow me to introduce myself! My name is Madeline Schmidt and I am an attorney, writer, volunteer, and Founder of Schmidt Law LLC. I started the firm with a simple idea – I want to help tech entrepreneurs and social media influencers start their business, resolve their legal issues related to that business, and navigate the complex world of law to actualize their goals.
I have been working in the technology industry since 2015, first in the media monitoring space and later for a digital agency that designs and develops websites and mobile applications. In working with the clients of these companies, I became acutely aware of their interests in protecting and monetizing content they create, and familiar with the process of how to do so. It seemed like there was an immediate need for a lawyer who understands these digital platforms and can advise on these processes effectively. Each creator’s content was atypical and unique. It deserved a lawyer dedicated to these interests instead of a small subset of an otherwise general corporate firm or worse, no lawyer at all. Combined with my legal education, these experiences have shaped a useful skill set for advising on the legal matters that arise in a tech start-up or in the influencer-brand-agency relationship. That is the story of how Schmidt Law LLC was born!
Keeping track of all of the rules and regulations that one must comply with can be confusing and overwhelming. I know this as both a lawyer and a business owner myself! Through social media posting and blogging, my goal is to provide some helpful considerations related to owning a business or engaging in relationships with brands as an influencer. I hope that by showcasing my knowledge of various legal topics, I can give clients and colleagues a glimpse into my work and hobbies, and connect with new friends in the legal community along the way.
